We are looking for someone to lead our 6-girl pandemic education pod in Chevy Chase DC. Our pod has been operating successfully over the past couple of months, and the students are motivated and compatible. Our three families have alternated hosting the group, and are cooperative and in-close synch with each other and the teacher. Our current teacher is moving as a yogi to Costa Rica, so we’re looking for an equally energetic replacement! Please contact Lucas de Beaufort at 202-746-9970 if you’re interested. • 4 days a week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday) from 9am – 3pm when school is in session, with flexibility on scheduling based on availability and preferences. • Group of 3 third-graders and 3 first-graders who know each other very well, get along great, live near each other, and attend Lafayette Elementary. • Possibility to separately schedule a few hours of pre-Kindergarten tutoring with younger siblings. • Start January 4, 2021, with duration dependent on DC Public Schools (DCPS) scheduling. • $8/hour per child • Use the “distance learning” materials/curriculum map provided by DCPS including “specials” such as music, art, dance, physical education, etc. Create your own lessons/materials if you’d like consistent with the curriculum! • Establish a balanced daily schedule between live instruction time and other learning and recreational activities when classes are not in session. • Ensure that the girls are logged onto their online/virtual classes with their teachers as required, and that they stay engaged throughout class. • Supervise and assist students in completing assignments. • All families are taking reasonable COVID-19 precautions and we are looking for someone who is doing the same, i.e. restrict personal social interactions to reduce chance of contagion. • Must be legal to work in the US (citizen, permanent resident/green card or visa that allows employment).
